Lyrics Website indilean.com Helps Independent Musicians Reach New Listeners and Promote OnlineMar 07, 2010“ Indilean offers bands a new free way to connect with fans, share lyrics and promote online ” ![]() indilean.com homepage Share on
Email Friend Contact Author (eMusicWire.Org) – The site allows musicians to post official song lyrics and promote their bands with links to related resources. It works like a wiki, anyone who owns the rights to a song can publish their lyrics. Each song page includes three links, offering bands a free way to promote their own websites. Fans who visit indilean.com get high quality artist approved content and are encouraged to comment and share their thoughts on song meanings.
Site creator, Cadamie Land, said in an interview March 7th that he was inspired by websites like TheSixtyone that empower new artists to cultivate an audience of listeners and fans using the internet. “I’ve always loved music, covering songs and just considering the meaning and inspiration behind it all. With indie songs the message can be raw and unrefined, I think that's important because it generates cultural change." Founded in October of 2009, indilean has quickly grown to include many well recognized artists such as Go Periscope, Eliza the Arrow (formerly Forget Cassettes) and Glam.I.Rock. who started out in the Bay Area, where indilean is headquartered. “I believe sites like indilean are a valuable resource and key driver in the way next generation music will be promoted and distributed. Bands like Saosin, Circa Survive and Panic! At the Disco all built massive followings using PureVolume and MySpace; indilean works much the same way by encouraging listener feedback and providing reliable band-controlled content,” he said. When asked about the name indilean, Cadamie said "it's a mix of indie music, lyrics, and song meaning". He also said non-independent, signed musicians, are welcomed to contribute as long as it doesn’t violate a copyright agreement. "I'm extending a formal invitation to Metallica to share their lyrics at http://indilean.com/contribute/ right now" he said "I'll even meet with them in person to get it done!" Indilean is all about sharing while respecting artist rights. "I'm a huge fan of the Creative Commons and their mission statement 'Share, Remix, Reuse — Legally' and I see a lot of potential to do this with indilean." # # #
