Harpenden resident Andy Penketh has used the power of the internet to produce a charity single "Love Will Find A Way" to raise money for Save The Children to help victims of the recent Haiti earthquakes.

Andy, 43, a Chartered Accountant, has been a Harpenden resident for 12 years and has always enjoyed playing piano and writing music. During 2009 he created a music channel on YouTube called AndysOriginalSongs and built up contacts with over 400 musicians based all around the world.

Andy said "Like so many others I was devastated when I saw the images of the suffering in Haiti following the recent earthquakes. As well as making a donation I wanted to send my love and the best way I know how is by writing and sharing a song".

Andy created his song "Love Will Find A Way" from his home in Harpenden using his Yamaha Clavinova piano, a personal computer and the power of the internet.

Andy said "I am so grateful for the help of my wonderfully creative friends: Siobhan Kelly who wrote the lyrics, which are an expression of hope and Diane de Mesa who sang the song so beautifully. Siobhan lives in Ireland and Diane in San Jose in California and so we created this song communicating entirely by email!"

Andy thought of the concept for the song whilst travelling on the train back from London one evening after reading a newspaper report on Haiti. He had collaborated with Siobhan, a Sales Executive in Ireland on a previous song and so emailed her the hummed version of the song. Within a week he had the lyrics back and then proceeded to email a demo of the soundtrack of his song to Diane in California. After a completing her shift as a nurse, Diane then stayed up until 2 a.m. on Sunday morning recording her vocals. The time difference between Harpenden and California is 8 hours and so Andy received the vocal track back at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning and mixed Diane's vocal into his backing track. He then emailed it back to Diane who recorded the vocal harmonies. Andy then did the final mix and mastered the record ready for release to the world!

Andy said "The amazing thing is that Siobhan, Diane and I have never met, we have never even spoken to each other - it's all done by email yet we have created something quite beautiful which we are all proud of and we hope it raises lots of money for Save The Children".
